[I Cheated]

Earlier this week I listened to Powerslave and Led Zeppelin.

Huh? Iron Maiden recorded an album called Led Zeppelin?

Well, no...they didn't.

I cheated.

Powerslave was not as epic as its predecessors. I noticed it had a more melodic sound. Also, on the cover their mascot Eddie is depicted as a pharaoh- is this significant in some way? You tell me. Maybe, just maybe, Powerslave has an Egyptian sound to it, but hell, I'm just throwing stuff out.

After, I added Led Zeppelin's discography to my Zune Software, not to listen, but you know, just because. Well, actually, recently, I have been addicted to "Stairway to Heaven." Anyways, I cheated and took a listen at Led Zeppelin.

Did I like it? Yeah.

It's infused with helpings of blues-rock and folk-rock, as well as Led Zeppelin's signature hard-rock sound. Best tracks: "Dazed and Confused," "Good Times, Bad Times," "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You."

The riff in "Dazed and Confused" is stellar. "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is sorta like a dyslexic "Stairway."

Tonight I listened to Somewhere in Time- yes, back to Maiden. I found this one potentially arena-rock, sorta "power metal." It was all right. Actually, I think I'm gonna "cheat" again- not saying that Maiden is bad, because that's FAR from the truth, but I just find myself dreading listening to them.

Back to the Zeppelin mobile, then.
